Alice in Wonderland!

I am really getting excited for the new Alice in Wonderland movie!!! I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in an Alice themed swap? I was thinking just a swap of something crafted/created that was inspired by the film? You can view a trailer of the film here. Let me know if you are interested I will get the swap organized quickly if there is enough interest.

Eye Spy Swap

For Christmas this year I am going to make my nephew an Eye Spy Quilt! I was super excited when I found this little swap (truth be told I may have had more than enough variety already in my stash ;) ). These are the fabrics I sent to Meredith. I cannot wait to see all of the variety I get back. Then it is off to start another quilt :)

Here She Is!

Okay I have finally figured out this pattern, I think. I am happy with the way she came out. I have really been wanting to make my own doll. I have made many flat style dolls on my own, but this was my first of this kind. I need to tweak the pattern just a little bit more and then I think I have her as close to perfection as I can get. She is a playful little girl. Loves a good apron, with a pocket of course.

Head stands are a must!!! So are stretchy rainbow leggings.

Time for a rest on her favorite little knotted quilt. She is so cute! I may have a hard time sending her off to her new home (my swap partner).

My Swap Creation.

I have been wanting to develop a doll pattern of my own for a while, so what better time than for a Handmade Swap. Part of the swap was to take pictures of the process. It has been fun, however I have forgotten to take a few pics. It is hard to stop and grab the camera when you are on a creative roll. LOL

She is turning out smaller than I had wanted, and there are a few little imperfections. I may keep this prototype and make a new one for my swap partner. Do you think small imperfections give a handmade item more personality? (I am too much of a perfectionist I think to leave it.)

Save Handmade Swap

Bird and Little Bird is hosting a Save Handmade Swap. While there is still time to sign up, I have already received my swap package! Olivia is my swap partner and she is super quick. I think two days after I received her as my partner we got a package in the mail. Here are the lovely things she sent.
A gorgeous Pink and Brown apron for Gina (she let Gina pick an apron from her Etsy shop).

And these adorable bean bags. The front of the bags have the number sewn on them and the back has the same number of dots sewn on them. These bags have played with like crazy!!! Thank you so much Olivia! I have the fabric selected and ironed, ready to be sewn into my swap goodies.

Swap packages sent :)

All but 2 have left my home. I am waiting on 1 return address and I have to drop the other at UPS :) Such a relief. I can't wait to see wait to see what you all are going to create with them.

Really?

I put out the first load of packages from the sheet swap yesterday and my mail carrier took them. Yippee! Today I put out the rest of them and she took some of the, and left some from yesterday? Why? They have postage, right? Well because they are over 13 oz I have to drive them to the post office. Really? I called the post office (got a help desk I am sure of it), the girl that answered, Bridget, was not confident in any of her answers. From what I understand the postage is fine, but I need to drop them off. She offered no reason why. I asked. So if any of you know why this is, please fill me in. I will try loading the kids up with 18 + packages this afternoon, after nap. BIG FUN I assure you. Sorry for the delay to all of you patiently waiting for sheets ;)

More sheet goodness

As promised here are more pics of the Fat Quarters for the swap. I needed to take pics before the swap so I could divide them without sending someone back what they sent me.

*The red vintage fabric above was a gift from Amie. Thanks Amie *
Thank you for all of the sweet notes too!

The sort begins!

I have taken a pic of each stack of fat quarters. I am just about ready to divide. I thought I would post a few pics a day of the packages that came in. I have no idea how to use flikr or I would... I am sure it is so simple :)

I have enjoyed this so much! We did have a few people drop out/not respond, but we still ended up with lots of variety! Since starting this swap I have celebrated my sisters birthday, my daughter's birthday, and my own birthday. I should have been keeping track of the countless Dr visits with a sick infant, not to mention Gina's 5 year boosters, which were a huge ordeal! Adler is still fighting off a sinus bug! I will be back tomorrow with more pics :)

*Edited to say that I am waiting on one package to sort*

Time for the SWAP info :)

Fat Quarter Vintage Sheet Swap!
I have been waiting per Elizabeth's request to start a Vintage sheet swap of my own. I was so inspired by hers, but unfortunately missed the deadline. I know there are more of you out there that were bummed to have missed it too. Here is your chance.
How it works -
Each Swapper sends me return postage and up to 50 Fat Quarters (cut from their vintage fabric) that they would like to swap. After I receive every one's fat quarters, I will send each swapper an assortment of fat quarters equal to the number they sent me.
Types of Fabric -
The title suggests Vintage Sheets, but any fun vintage prints would work. Please stay away from licensed characters and solids. Pillowcases, table clothes, curtains, and vintage yardage are all acceptable in this swap. Please stick with Cotton, Linen, and 50/50 percale only.
To sign up -
Leave a comment with your email address on this post by midnight August 7. I am going to limit the number of swappers to 30 people, so the deadline is really Aug. 7, or 30 people, whichever happens first. I will send you a confirmation email with more specifics. I can't wait to get started.
EDITED TO ADD- Fat Quarters will need to be mailed to me by September 1st. I hope this will give everyone plenty of time to get their hands on some vintage goodness. If everything works as planned I hope to mail the Fat Quarters back no later than the 15th of September.
*ONE MORE THING**** I have the swap open a little longer 6 spots remain, but you must be able to ship to me by Aug. 31st :)

Fat Quarter Vintage sheet swap!

Just a little info for those of us that missed out on the Vintage sheet swap. I am going to host my own beginning August 1st! Please comment below if you are interested, and be on the lookout for sign up information. I am waiting until then because Elizabeth (the host of the current swap) asked that I wait until her swap is over. Tell your friends! This is a fun swap!
